Women Outside is a story-driven event, produced by Backcountry Experience in Durango, CO. When we launched in 2016, our goal was to bring local women (and men) together for three nights of inspirational programming. At the time, the “adventure narrative” was primarily driven by men’s stories. Women Outside was an opportunity to tell stories about adventure, exploration, and growth through a different lens. For the first four years, we put local notables on stage alongside outdoor celebrities like Beth Rodden, Steph Davis, and Hilaree Nelson.

Then in 2020, Women Outside was derailed. We took a two-year hiatus and figured out how to turn this disruption into an opportunity. We reinvented ourselves. We realized that Women Outside is about more than inspiration. It’s about doing something with it.

Today, Women Outside features a local adventurer’s story night and hands-on clinics designed to elevate your outdoor game.
